Iowa wrestling capped off the Big Ten dual season with a dominant road win over the Purdue Boilermakers on Feb. 15 in West Lafayette, Ind. The Hawkeyes won eight of 10 bouts in a 32-6 victory over the Boilermakers.

The No. 7-ranked Iowa men’s wrestling team traveled to West Lafayette, Indiana, to face Purdue in the final Big Ten dual of the season. The Hawkeyes dominated the Boilermakers, 32-6, moving to 12-5 on the season and 5-3 in the conference.

IOWA CITY - In what has been a rough 2025-26 season, Iowa wrestling won its final home dual of the year vs. Michigan. After losing four of the first five bouts, Iowa rallied to win 19-17. Seventh-ranked Iowa won eight matches, receiving a technical fall from Drake Ayala and a pin from Harveey Ludington, and defeated Purdue, 32-6, in its conference dual finale Sunday in West Lafayette,

In a night dedicated to honoring seniors, No. 7 Iowa men’s wrestling rallied in the end, defeating No. 10 Michigan 19-17 in Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Friday night.  Coming down to the last match, the Hawkeyes were fueled by clutch wins from seniors Michael Caliendo and Drake Ayala in the win.

With three classes, 14 weights per class and 24 qualifiers per weight, 1,008 wrestlers enter the tournament with championship aspirations.

10 boys wrestlers from the Ames area are headed to state. Ames, Ballard, Gilbert and Roland-Story qualify two apiece and Nevada advanced one.
